J. Jonnyd Discussion starter · Mar 26, 2018. Hi All, I'm having trouble starting my 5420. The issue started out intermittently where it would fire when turned over and the shutdown immediately. Eventually after a couple of tries or after starting it with the throttle raised it would continue to run and act normal.. Who is peter doocy

Since one and a half weeks ago my John Deere STX38 lawn tractor wouldn't crank any more. It's about 14 years old, had regular maintenance through our local small engine John Deere dealer, including this spring. The battery shows 12 volts.
