Its spliced into the resistor block just to use that wire to source the output from resistor block to the blower with the speed selected using just one wire for the blower. Followed these instructions and found a break in the connection between wire and connector in one of the wires of the adaptor. How this came to be, is a mystery but I managed to open the little female metal pin connector at the end of the wire, reattach it with fiddling and some tape en reassembled the thing.
